Accra Sports Stadium rented out for an entertainment event, not a party-NSA
Charles Amofa, Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority has refuted claims that the Accra Sports Stadium which was shut down for maintenance has been rented out for a party.
Reacting to the claims, he said the NSA has rather rented it out for an entertainment event and not a party as speculated by some persons.
He said the NSA and the organizers have agreed for them (organizers) to manage the pitch well and prevent it from further deteriorating.
He said the event is just for a day and after the event on Friday, December 16, 2021, the stadium would be opened for league games.
The NSA had sent a letter to the GFA informing the football governing body to reschedule matches in the Ghana Premier League to be played at the Accra Stadium to a different venue.
This according to the NSA was to give way for it to undertake some renovation works to improve the state of the Stadium including the pitch.
But the planned renovation was overturned and the stadium rented out for the organization of the event.
Mr. Amofa speaking on Rainbow Sports said the pitch is being worked on and by Monday, December 20, the stadium would be opened for league games to be played there.
He stressed that the event would be organized on the pitch but behind the goal post.
He said the video people saw on social media was a staged being designed by the organizers to be used for the event.
He explained that the stage would be lifted from the pitch after it had been designed for the event.
