A Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament, Dr. Clement Apaak, has described Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu as public enemy number one (#1) for refusing to use the power to disallow and surcharge to recover/retrieve our public funds unaccounted for per reports by his own outfit.

He is alleging that the Auditor-General has shown no interest in retrieving several amounts of money misappropriated by individuals.

He indicated that in 2020 Public Boards, Corporations, and Other Statutory Institutions alone could not account for over 12.8B (see attached).

In 2021 same jumped to over 17.4B (see attached). This means 30.3B in two years, ‘ he added.

According to him, despite these infractions, the A-G has not expressed interest in retrieving the money.

He posited that since Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu took over from Yaw Daniel Domelevo, he is yet to use these powers to recover/retrieve a pesewa.

”His bizarre attitude is helping to embolden the pillaging of the public purse (jump from 12.8B in 2020 to 17.4B in 2021), rather than protecting it. Imagine recovering half of 30B in these challenging times?

AG Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu by refusing to apply the powers to disallow and surcharge has no business holding himself as AG and getting paid by the taxes of the same people he is not serving fully. He should get the job done or resign.”

Folks, Auditor General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu is public enemy number one (#1) for refusing to use the power to disallow and surcharge to recover/retrieve our public funds unaccounted for per reports by his own outfit.

In 2020 Public Boards, Corporations and Other Statutory Institutions alone could not account for over 12.8B (see attached). In 2021 same jumped to over 17.4B (see attached). This means 30.3B in two years.

AG Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu is strangely not interested in recovering/retrieving our funds unaccounted for using the power to disallow and surcharge like his predecessor Yaw Daniel Domelevo. Domelevo used these powers as affirmed by the Supreme Court judgement in the OccupyGhana case to recover 66M before he was hounded out.

Since Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu took over from Yaw Daniel Domelevo, he is yet to use these powers to recover/retrieve a pesewa. His bizarre attitude is helping to embolden the pillaging of the public purse (jump from 12.8B in 2020 to 17.4B in 2021), rather than protecting it. AG Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu by refusing to apply the powers to disallow and surcharge has no business holding himself as AG and getting paid by the taxes of the same people he is not serving fully. He should get the job done or resign.
