Rule of Law Specialist at the Legal Resources Center (LRC) Mr. Enock Jengre has implored the IGP Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare to humbly authorize the use of the Ghana Case Tracking System (CTS) in all police stations in Ghana where the technology is established to facilitate the smooth and speedy adjudication of criminal cases in Ghana.
Mr. Jengre was speaking in an interview with our reporter Prince Kwame Tamakloe during the Tolon district sensitization workshop on the Ghana case tracking system at the Tolon district assembly in the northern region.
He said, “we are calling on the IGP, he is the head of the Ghana police service which has the highest number of sites using the CTS, to engage the police personnel to use the CTS thus help them to identify and address the challenges that come with the technology.”
The sensitization workshop which was organized by the Legal Resources Center (LRC) under the USAID Justice Sector Support Activity, brought together persons from both the formal and informal sectors of the society to be informed on the operation of the Ghana Case Tracking System.
Also at the workshop, a Monitoring, Evaluation, and learning specialist at the Legal Resources Center, Samuel Fant Kombian explained that in 2018, Ghana launched the first electronic Integrated Criminal Justice Case-Tracking System (CTS) a project that seeks to support key stakeholders in the justice delivery system to collect, collate and complement numerical data for effective justice delivery in Ghana.
He said the CTS project which is being supported by the USAID is to enable the key actors in the justice delivery system to electronically access and track the various stages of criminal cases from the point of arrest, investigations, prosecution, conviction, rehabilitation, and release.
He said the Tolon district has the lowest number of criminal cases recorded among the implementing district with a total of 32 criminal cases reported while 28 of the reported cases have been created on the CTS.
