Nketiah must be removed as member of PSB, his advocacy for slap of deputy speaker anti-party conduct-Koku

Former deputy general secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has called for the immediate dismissal of Johnson Asiedu Nketiah as a member of the Parliamentary Service Board.

Mr. Anyidoho premised his call on a video in which Mr. Nketiah who is the General Secretary of the NDC, was advocating for the slapping of the Deputy Speaker in the event that he votes on issues in the House.

Addressing party supporters in Kumasi on the ruling by the Supreme Court that Deputy Speakers have the right to vote while presiding, Mr. Nketiah said resistance has been imposed on the Minority because of the entrenched position taken by the Majority.

He said for this reason, if a Deputy Speaker while presiding wants to be the referee and a player then if it will take a slap to bring him back to his senses, then he must be slapped.

He also served notice to the President that if he wants parliament to be peaceful it would be.

Reacting to this, Koku Anyidoho slammed him describing his comments as reckless and irresponsible.

In a tweet, he said “This man is a member of the Parliamentary Services Board, & he is advocating for the slapping of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament? He must immediately be sacked from the PSB! This is gross anti-party conduct & against the constitution of the NDC. He must be sacked from the NDC!”

He has also posited that the chief scribe of the party has breached the constitution of the NDC.

He said Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has breached the provisions of the party’s constitution which states that members must be a model of freedom, justice, and accountability as well as the provision that states that members must faithfully apply the fundamental human rights and freedoms provisions of the constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

These provisions are captured in Article 47 of the NDC’s constitution.
