Although the Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin, has said the printing o presidential diaries were done by a private investor, Dr. Clement Apaak, believes the information given is incomplete.
He is therefore demanding from the presidency to disclose the company/companies that printed the diaries.
The former presidential staffer and MP for Builsa South demanded from government the cost for printing the 2017/2018 presidential diaries.
In a response, Eugene Arhin said “I can state on authority that not even a pesewa of state resources went into the production of presidential diaries in 2017 and in 2018. I’m stating that emphatically. The printing of the diaries was undertaken by private companies who went around sourcing funds from corporate institutions across the length and breadth of the country and they undertook that printing themselves.”
However, Dr. Apaak who is not satisfied with the information recounted how President Akufo-Addo then candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused the Mahama led administration of using an amount $10 million to print presidential diaries when he knew the same processes used under their tenure was the same used by the NDC.
In a write up Dr. Apaak said: ‘’You have failed to answer my questions regarding the 2017 and 2018 Presidential Diaries your government produced. As then opposition leader your Boss accused my Boss falsely of spending 10 million dollars to produce Presidential Diaries. To demonstrate and put his blatant lie to rest, we put out details on the company which produced the Diaries at NO Cost to the nation, the modalities by which the company was selected and the number of Dairies produced. Your Boss refused to apologise for falsely accusing my Boss. Kweku Baaku Jr and Nana Akomea even went on to suggest as did the rest of you, that the method by which our FSH went about producing the Presidential Diaries was "Naked Robbery". So my questions are simple, which company/companies produced the 2017 and 2018 Presidential Diaries, since you were on record on eye witness news on Citifm to indicate that the Diaries were produced by private companies. How was/were the company/companies selected, was there competitive tendering, how many copies were produced? Simply saying the Diaries were produced by private company/companies is below the standard then opposition party NPP and its leader held us to. Did you spend 40 million dollars to produce the Presidential Diaries as I'm hearing?’’
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has posited that corruption has reduced under his leadership.
The president believes despite the allegations of corruption that rocked his administration and got people talking, the canker has reduced under his watch.
The current administration has been hit by scandals including the cash for seat saga, the BOST allegations and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital brouhaha which accused some Deputy Chiefs of Staff of being corrupt.
However, Nana Addo says the issues of corruption are gradually reducing under him.
“The rot and corruption are gradually reducing in Ghana. We are no longer a subject of corruption on a massive scale- that is no longer a part of the reality of Ghana today,” said the President.
