I will suspend sitting if you don't comport yourselves-Speaker

Written by  Mar 02, 2017
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye has threatened to suspend sitting if members do not comport themselves on the floor of Parliament. He gave the warning during the ongoing the presentation of the 2017 budget statement by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta. Members on the Minority’s side heckled the Minister in his introductory speech. The Minister paid a glorying tribute to what he described as for-bearers. According to him, he was standing in rather large shoes of legacies by the late JB Danquah, President Nana Akuffo-Addo, Hon. Atta Akyea and family members. The statement drew a thunderous heckling from the Minority who kept shouting, the ‘’budget, read the budget.’’   The Speaker then threatened to suspend sitting if members fail to comport themselves and hold a conference with the leadership of Parliament. The budget is still underway.
